Course Introduction
This is a brief introduction to the Citizens TESOL Certificate Course. In these lessons, we will help you prepare for the rest of the course so that you can get "all your ducks in a row" and know what to expect.

MODULE 1 | Intro to Learning Languages
This module features several lessons related to the topic of learning. Key lessons include: Classroom Values, Icebreaker Activities, Student Needs, Learning Styles, Proficiency Levels, Second Language Acquisition (SLA), Language and Culture

MODULE 2 | Teaching and Lesson Planning
This module features several lessons related to the topic of teaching. Key lessons include: Teaching Methods, Designing Quick-and-Easy Lesson Plans Using PPP, Using Lesson Plan Templates, and Creating Resources For Your Lesson Plans

MODULE 3 | Teaching the Macro Skills
This module features lessons and resources that focus on how to teach the four basic macro skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing. We will also look at how to teach a number of micro skills: Pronunciation, Literacy, and Grammar.

MODULE 4 | Advanced Teaching Techniques
This module features several lessons that focus on more advanced teaching techniques. Key lessons include: Classroom Management, Error Correction, How to Design and Conduct your own Language Tests, and Adapting Course Books using Authentic Materials

MODULE 5 | Teaching English As Ministry
This module gives you access to several resources you can use to teach English as a ministry: including Discovery Bible Study resources, and our C&C Magazine curricula. We will also look at how to create your own curriculum for your classes.

Start together
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. We believe you will do better in the course when we all start together. For this reason, we are organizing several different sessions and cohorts that you can join throughout the year. In the first few weeks of each new session, you will have a chance to get to know your classmates. Whenever the course is in session, we will also offer weekly webinars and other features to give you additional support and learning opportunities. Join us at the starting line for the next session! (Don’t want to wait? You can get started now and finish the course at your own pace.)

Finish at your own pace
When you start the course, you can choose between two different tracks: The Fast Track gives you the option to finish in 12 weeks or less (we can help you create a custom schedule just for yourself, or you can join a cohort of other students who are following the same schedule together), while the Extended Track allows you extra time to relax and finish the course at your own pace in under a year. Need flexibility with your schedule? With both tracks, you can take as much time as you need to finish the course!

Schedule for upcoming sessions
OCTOBER 2022 SESSION: Classes for Module 1 are scheduled to begin on October 1st, 2022. HYBRID COHORTS: We will be offering in-person courses in Montana and Boston starting in April 2023, with additional courses planned for later in the year.
